About Bob & Anne

BOB & ANNE - EXPERIENCED

Bob and Anne have built on their formal training (see Credentials) with over 24 years of experience in private practice helping individuals and couples acquire effective tools and skills to resolve problems and improve their lives.

Experienced With Individuals

Anne & Bob have extensive experience helping Individuals learn effective ways to deal with stress at work or in everyday living or relationships, or to learn tools to overcome anxiety, panic, depression, PTSD, and OCD.

Experienced With Couples

Bob & Anne have extensive experience helping many couples learn proven skills to discuss conflicts constructively and resolve issues, to work as a team, together. Anne & Bob have helped couples in crisis to sort out what changes are needed and what changes are possible, while at the same time giving the relationship the best chance.

COUNSELLING/THERAPY APPROACHES

Anne & Bob, skilled in many approaches, provide an appropriate blend of approaches suited to each individual or couple. The approaches include the following:

  • CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy

  • Mindfulness Based Therapy

  • Social Skills Training

CREDENTIALS

Anne Mariner, M.A., CCC, RCT, and Robert Mariner, M.A., CCC, RCT, are licensed by the Province of Nova Scotia as Registered Counselling Therapists with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists.

They have also met the national standards for certification with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association.

Bob and Anne received their Master's degrees in Psychology from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. They then completed a year of postgraduate studies in Psychology at Dalhousie University, where Bob was awarded a Killam Scholarship.

Anne and Bob obtained specialized training in Couple & Family Therapy at the Institute for the Development of Emotional and Life Skills in Bethesda, Maryland.

Bob and Anne have been married since 1966. They have a son living in Halifax, and a son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren in Montreal.
